This beautiful set of three vintage Italian hand-painted divided plates was made exclusively for Gimbel Brothers Department Store. Each plate features a richly colored floral design in true mid-century Italian style—lush red roses, sunny yellows, and periwinkle flowers against a creamy white ground with a hand-painted cobalt blue rim.
Made in Italy and marked “Made in Italy for Gimbel Brothers – Hand Painted”, these pieces were imported by the historic American retailer during the 1940s–1960s when fine European ceramics were a hallmark of Gimbel’s housewares department. The hand-painted work and sectioned design give them both display and functional appeal—perfect for antipasti, desserts, or as statement wall decor.
Each plate measures approximately 10 1/2” inches in diameter and shows expected wear from age, including small spots of edge roughness and chips around edges and minor glaze flakes that add to vintage character. No major cracks or repairs. Bright colors and clear glaze remain vibrant.
