Own a genuine piece of American firefighting history! This authentic mid-20th-century (1940s–1960s) D.B. Smith & Company “Indian” backpack fire pump tank was the workhorse of the U.S. Forest Service, rural fire departments, and wildland crews across the country.

•  Original red cast-iron air-vent cap boldly stamped “AIR VENT KEEP OPEN • INDIAN PATENTED”
•  Classic oval brass maker’s plate on the handle: “D.B. SMITH & COMPANY • UTICA, N.Y. U.S.A.”
•  Heavy-gauge galvanized steel tank with signature horizontal ribs for strength
•  Brass bottom outlet fitting with D-ring for shoulder straps 
•  Heavy-duty top carry handle
Condition: Honest, rustic vintage patina with natural surface rust, light dents, and a few small perforations/rust spots (clearly shown in photos). Tank only — the sliding trombone pump, hose, nozzle, and straps are not included. Not currently watertight (perfect for display or restoration).
