The Underwood 4 Bank was the Underwood Typewriter Company's first attempt at 4 key row portable typewriters. Their previous portables were 3 banks, which means they only had 3 rows is keys and used a caps and fig button to get upper case and symbols on their typewriters. The 4 bank typewriters like this beautiful green wood one allows for the typist to type faster and more efficiently. This typewriter is going to be perfect for that typist that wants an old, beautiful, and working typewriter. The faux wood on this typewriter is very beautiful and looks great with it's glass keys.
Mechanically speaking, this typewriter is in decent shape. All the keys strike as they should and do not stick. Functions like color ribbon selector, backspace, and margin bell are working as they should. Paper advances as it should.
Cosmetically, this typewriter is in good shape for it's age. There are a few paint chips along edges here and there mostly in the front edge, but for the most part is in good shape for it's age. There is dust in the harder to reach and see areas internally, but nothing that affects the performance of the typewriter. The case lid is missing its handle but the lock works as it should. Please see photos for details on the condition of the typewriter.
